Soy Wax Advantages
Dec 7th 2019
Soy candles are becoming a popular choice among candle lovers. As you are probably assuming, there are actually many reasons to want to burn a soy candle over other paraffin wax candles or a blended wax candles. Many of the nationally recognized, larger candle companies such as Yankee Candle or Bath and Body Works use paraffin as a filler and try to market their product as soy candles.
Soy candles are the cleanest burning candles on the market when the candles truly are 100% soy wax. Soy candles do not give off a petroleum soot because they are completely biodegradable and made from soy which is a naturally grown plant. Paraffin wax does not burn as clean because it is a petroleum based product. With the paraffin wax being petroleum based, when the candle is burnt it releases petroleum soot and is often when you see black smoke rising from the burning wick in a paraffin candle. Building on the petroleum soot, with a soy wax candle you will not find the black burn ring around the top of the candle as this also comes from the petroleum based paraffin candle.
Soy candles are also the longest burning candles on the market. When comparing the different waxes on the market, the three most common are paraffin, soy paraffin blend, and soy wax. Out of the three, soy burns the longest, soy paraffin blend is the second longest, and the paraffin wax burns the fastest of all of them. The petroleum additive in the paraffin wax is a catalyst in burning up the wax in the candle. When burning these candles, your burn time is affected in a great way and becomes much shorter.
Last but not least, soy candles are the best scented candles on the market and keep a strong scent through the life of the candle. Additionally, the scent throw of these candles are the strongest in the industry as well. It is a wonder why larger candle companies don’t produce 100% soy candles however it is tough to get an even, clean pour if the soy candle is not hand poured.
